As both a trading card dealer and someone who has been blessed to serve in many areas of ministry, I find it fascinating when I see my faith in Jesus Christ intersect with others in our industry, whether that be collectors or even cartoonists. Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame was a Sunday School teacher who shared his faith through 50 years of strips and shows. Millions still treasure “A Charlie Brown Christmas” where Linus drops his blanket as he quotes from Luke chapter 2:
“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
The symbolism of Linus proclaiming “Fear Not” while dropping his “security blanket” still speaks volumes to this day.
Also depicted is a stunning card (1937 Diamond Bread) showing Mickey Mouse saying his prayers before going to bed and the card even tells us how “all good little girls and boys say their prayers every night. Minnie says her prayers at bedtime, too”. I’m always on the lookout to add these types of unique cards to my collection, so if you have any similar cards, please send an email to buycartooncardz@gmail.com. I’d love to see them!
